Laffing Moose Sketch Comedy

Well, we finally opened the show last night, 11/2/07. We called it an open dress rehearsal as we’re still fixing loose ends. Tonight we’re doing the show again for free. Some of the members of the group have been working on getting the first show ready for a year and a half! I started working with them as a video and sound guy with ideas toward supplementing the written script by esteemed director and veteran television writer, John Boni with funny video sketches. Ryan Mclaughlin and I met with Richard Gardner, owner of Comedyworx in Raleigh and we started attending rehearsals.

It wasn’t too long before it was clear that there was a need for more actors, so I was offered a few parts including a football coach, a sports commentator, and an evangelist. I’m also in a few bridge segments at the beginning and end of the show. I wrote the jingle for one of the fake products, Smellobrex, and also ended up gathering and mixing sound effects for both the live show and the supplemental video clips.

The next run of the show, was the first weekend in December, 2007 at 10:30 PM after the improv shows.

Update. (10/18/08) We worked on a second show, performed it, and decided to call it quits. No hard feelings, but the majority of us felt we were being held back creatively, and wanted to do our own stuff.
