The Cowardly Lion

Lion:
large carnivore (Panthera leo) of the CAT family, found in open country in Africa, with a few surviving in India. The tawny-coated male lion usually has a long, thick mane and may reach 9 ft (2.7 m) in length and 400 lb (180 kg) in weight. Lions live in prides of up to 30 individuals. Females do most of the hunting, preying on zebra, antelope, and domestic livestock.

The Cowardly Lion loves jazz and swings like a cat.

Highly adapted for hunting and devouring their prey, cats have short muzzles, large eyes, sensitive whiskers, and sharp claws and teeth. Most have long tails, and all have a flexible musculo-skeletal system. Lions and cheetahs live in groups called prides, but most cats are solitary. Cats have been domesticated since prehistoric times and were often the objects of veneration or superstitious fear. Domestic cats vary in size, with males usually weighing 9-14 lb (4.1-6.4 kg) and females 6-10 lb (2.2-4.5 kg).

The Cowardly Lion thinks he's related to the Lion in Bringing Up Baby.

Cats have coats of various lengths and many colors (black, white, and shades of red, yellow, brown, and gray) in a variety of patterns. Besides the common house cat, the species F. catus includes many recognized breeds maintained by selective mating.

The Cowardly Lion was arrested once in Athens, Ga for using a police cruiser as a scratching post. He cannot return to the state of Georgia.

Most breeds are short-haired. Abyssinian cats have ruddy brown coats with ticking (marking on each hair) of darker brown or black. Burmese cats are small and muscular with medium- to dark-brown coats; the Manx cat is a variously colored, tailless breed with hind legs longer than its forelegs, elevating the rump.

Egyptian Art celebrates the greatness of cats, as it should.

Siamese cats have almond-shaped blue eyes and white, cream, or fawn coats with brown or gray areas (points) on the feet, tail, ears, and head. The Russian Blue cat, with green eyes and a blue-gray coat, is distinguished by two layers of short, thick fur, and the Rex cat, the only curly-haired cat, has a woolly coat that may be any color. Persian cats are stocky and long-haired and may be a variety of colors; the other long-haired breed, the Himalayan cat (a Persian-Siamese cross), has Siamese coloring.

The Cowardly Lion has Attention Deficit Disorder.
